Digital Enterprise Society is the authority on the transformation to a digital enterprise, impacting all areas of an organization.  Discussion among industry leaders about operations and action needed to drive digitalization principles forward for the future of product development and lifecycles.

On this episode of the Digital Enterprise Society podcast, Thom Singer highlights some of the upcoming industry conferences that you may be interested in attending.  Conferences provide the perfect environment for networking, but only if you are prepared to make the contacts that you want to make.

With over ten years of experience as a conference speaker and business leader, Thom has compiled a list of ten tips that you will want to hear before attending your next conference.  His advice will help you feel confident about the conversations you will have and the connections you will make before you set foot inside the conference door, and will set you up for continued success long after the conference is over.

On today’s podcast you will learn:

The importance of identifying the type of people you want to connect with:

  • Are you looking for a new job?  Connect with potential employers.
  • Locate peers that are using the same tools as you will set you up for success with future questions that you need answers to.

Thom’s ten tips for maximizing your networking opportunities at conferences include:

  • Bring plenty of business cards for these three reasons.
  • Talk to the people sitting around you and start by putting your phone down.
  • Ask questions of the people you meet — including this perfect question that you can ask anyone.
  • Don’t send LinkedIn requests to every person you meet.
  • Be the person who makes connections and introduces people to each other.
